Task: Coordinating the Curriculum Module „Organization and system management in Migration Health”. The module is built on items as:

• recognition the extent and applicability of national and international law and regulations such as human rights as applied to migrant populations;
• using management principles to organize health services for migrating populations;
• designing, planning, implementing and evaluating policies and programmes based on current epidemiological and public health information for prevention and write a proposal requesting funds to provide health services for migrating populations;
• knowing the mission and operating procedures of different governmental and migration heath issues world-wide.
• ability to use the electronic and print media to effectively inform the public about issues of migration health.

Application-oriented research

Danube University Krems is primarily devoted to transferable and application-oriented research in special areas such as biomedical technology, biopsychosocial health, regenerative medicine, or construction and environment. Scientific conclusions constitute the basis of practice-oriented teaching at the University for Continuing Education. Furthermore, the research being conducted here permits intensive cooperation with companies and other public institutions. The three faculties of the University conduct research that extends beyond the confines of their respective specialties.

Danube University Krems is located 80 km from Vienna – in one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes of Europe known as the Wachau. It has been declared a world heritage site by the UNESCO. We work on a critical issue of modern societies, namely Migration and Globalization. In so doing we want to contribute to a better understanding of the processes at work to promote social cohesion and wellbeing.

Our team covers a wide range of professional disciplines such that we may address the complexity of migration and globalization from various vantage points.

Center for Health and Migration

Migration is a global phenomenon that influences the health system; it raises the need for further education and training of health professionals and public health management.

We focus on the two dimensions of migration and health, the diversity management skills needed for a multicultural and multilingual workforce in the health and care services on the one hand and the diverse health care needs of an increasingly multicultural population on the other.

We provide education and training in migrant sensitive public health management and cross-cultural medical communication. We offer degree courses and training seminars, provide consulting services and engage in basic and applied research.
