By the end of 2016 University of Pécs and the Immigration and Asylum Office (IAO) of Hungary signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the field of migration and public health. The aim of the project is to launch researches among migrants and refugees from 3rd. countries in reception and detention centers. The research focuses on the collection and analysis of health screening and epidemiological data, perform surveys, interviews by using applied sociological methods. This new phase of the research starts in January 2017. The program that is conducted by the Department of Operational Medicine of the University, is the follow up of a research started in 2007 already.
The research focuses also on the immunization status of the migrants in order to prevent an outbreak of vaccine preventable diseases.
